From near Whithorn, Wigtownshire
This carved oak figure of a bishop was found in a moss near Whithorn in Wigtownshire and dates from the 14th century. It possibly represents St Ninian.

St Ninian was one of Scotland's early saints. He was a British bishop based at Whithorn in Wigtownshire in the second half of the 5th century and seems to have played a significant part in the spread of Christianity to the east and south of Scotland.
