Choir stalls
Add to album

These two oak choir stalls date from around 1470. They were transferred around 1585 from Lincluden Collegiate Church in Kirkcudbrightshire, to the nearby Terregles Parish Church, where they were preserved until recently.

The stalls stand on a modern base and are surmounted at the top by a modern rail in place of the original canopies. The misericord of the first stall is carved with a serpent with webbed claws, that of the second with a lion with only two hind legs.
