Panel

This carved oak panel dates from the late 15th or 16th century. It was possibly part of a chest.

The panel is carved with Gothic fenestration including the letters 'ma' - an abbreviation for the Virgin Mary.

The church needed furniture to store vestments and other equipment. It was a leading patron of craftsmen of all types.
