Communion cup, made in Edinburgh

This communion cup from Bolton Parish Church in East Lothian was made in 1696 by Edinburgh goldsmith George Zeigler.

The cup is engraved 'For the church of Bolton'.

The cup was paid for from the Poor Fund and the kirk session minutes state that if the money was ever needed again for the poor, the cup should be melted down and the silver sold.
