Communion plate, made in Glasgow

This pewter communion plate, made by Graham and Wardroup of Glasgow, was used in the Martyrs' Church, a parish near Glasgow's Merchant City.

The underside of the plate is engraved with a ship in full sail with the text, 'Success to the United States of America' around it.

The maker's mark shows their sympathy for the new American republic.
