Collection plate

This brass collection plate has a relief image of St George slaying the dragon. It dates from the 18th century.

Brass collecting-plate, with St George and the Dragon

The collection plate was often placed at the door of the church with the elders looking on as the congregation made their offerings on the way in or out. The collections were used to support the poor and the minister.
