Crucifix

This silver rosary crucifix dates from the 15th or 16th century. It is possibly a copy of a 12th-century cross bought by a pilgrim as a souvenir. It is said to have been found in a bed in Queen Mary's room at Craigmillar Castle in or before 1815.

The crucifix is decorated with niello and has been mounted on plain ebony cross sometime in the 19th century.
