This wooden cup was found in Dalvaird Moss at Glenluce in Wigtownshire. It was probably an offering to the gods, made sometime between 200 and 540 AD.

Classical sources suggest that native religious rites were practised in natural places rather than monumental buildings. Watery places in particular had religious significance, and were places where objects were ritually deposited.
