Practice chanter
Practice chanter of African blackwood mounted with a synthetic ivory sole and a nickel ferrule with fingerholes spread as on a full-sized Highland bagpipes chanter, by D. Naill and Co., Chesham, Buckinghamshire and Minehead, Somerset.
The practice chanter is used by pipers for learning and practicing the music of the bagpipe. It has a narrow cylindrical bore and uses a double reed with long blades. It is softer toned and deeper pitched than the bagpipe chanter.
