Piper John Mackenzie, Ross-shire. Portrait drawing included in C.N. MacIntyre North's folio collection 'Leabhar Comunn nam Fior Ghael' or 'The Book of the Club of True Highlanders'. John Mackenzie was a nephew of John Bàn Mackenzie and a good piper, winning the Gold Medal at Inverness in 1876. He lived in London for some years, was the official instructor for the London Scottish and Piper to the 'Club of True Highlanders'. He died in London.

Mr MacIntyre North was an enthusiastic expatriate Scot who made a special study of Scottish Gaelic antiquities and arts. He founded an organisation in London called 'The Club of True Highlanders' which evoked the memory of an organisation founded by MacDonnell of Glengary in the 1820s.
