Lithograph of cranes on the River Clyde

Signed proof lithograph entitled 'The Seven Cranes on the Clyde', c. 1918 by Sir David Muirhead Bone.

Muirhead Bone initially trained as an architect. From this lithograph you can see that he put his technical skill and talents of minute and accurate observation to good use when sketching the construction of ships on the Clyde.

Sir David Muirhead Bone (1876-1953) was born in Partick, Glasgow. In 1916 he was appointed the first official war artist. His depictions of warships and their construction were published monthly in 'Country Life'.
