Soldiers in the Crimea by Roger Fenton
Add to album

Photograph of soldiers, including some officers and men of the 4th Dragoon Guards, in the Crimea, taken by Roger Fenton. Taken at the end of 1854 or beginning of 1855, the photograph was published by Agnew in 1856.

This photograph shows officers relaxing in camp. Towards the left one pours wine for another who is seated. An officer's orderly hold his horse in the background and a senior NCO looks on.

The photograph gives an idea of the clothing worn in the Crimea by heavy cavalry officers; long 'blucher' boots, short-tailed coatees and a variety of headgear.
