Photograph of Scots Guards at Chelsea Barracks, taken by Miss Broom, c. 1904.

The guardsmen are wearing white drill jackets and 'broderick' caps, with some of them in fatigue dress. Enjoying some off-duty time, they are playing a game of cards. The soldier in the middle of the back row wearing an elaborately decorated tunic is a drummer.

Miss Broom was an enthusiastic amateur photographer with a particular penchant for photographing soldiers in barracks in London.
