Group of N.C.O.s and men, 78th Regiment of Foot

Photograph of a group of Non Commissioned Officers and men of the Light Company, 78th Regiment of Foot, wearing feathered bonnets, c.1859.

The Regiment served during the Indian Mutiny of 1857, being described as the 'Saviours of India'. To the right of the picture is Private Henry Ward who is wearing a Victoria Cross won at Lucknow in 1857.
