Add to album

Watercolour of two soldiers of the Régiment d'Ogilvy in camp, with the regimental colours, 1757. The painting is a copy of one held in the Musée de l'Armée, Paris.

The colours of the regiment are shown: the white Royal colour of the French king, and the Scottish national colour of St Andrew, both with similar decoration.

The regiment was raised in France on 28 February 1747, forming a part of the French Army and officered by exiled Jacobites. The Colonel was David Ogilvy, Earl of Airlie. The regiment was disbanded in 1762 at the end of the Seven Years' War between Great Britain and France.
