This is the reverse of a 19th-century electrotype of a bronze medal made in honour of the marriage of Mary, Queen of Scots and Henry, Lord Darnley in 1565.
The reverse has a crowned shield of arms between two thistles. The Latin inscription translates as 'Those whom God hath joined together, let not man put asunder'.
Henry, Lord Darnley was Mary's second husband. He was murdered at Kirk o' Field outside Edinburgh.
