found at Kildrummy Castle, Aberdeenshire
Taper lights hold the burning end of a wax taper between its blades. The taper is wound round the vertical central pillar and moved up as it burnt. This taper light was found at Kildrummy Castle in Aberdeenshire. It is made of iron.
The taper light's two blades, when closed, form a flat circle. The upright of the stand has three knops in the middle and, at the foot, a shallow octagonal plate with a scalloped edge.
