This jam pot was made in the second half of the 19th century at Cumnock Pottery in East Ayrshire.

The pot is painted with the words 'Pree oor jam, it's unco guid'. 'Cumnock NB' is incised on the base.

A pottery was originally established in Cumnock by James Taylor in 1794. In the second half of the 19th century it became well known for its 'couthy' motto ware.
