This sporran forms part of a man's kilt suit. It is made from either the white hair from a horse or a goat.
The sporran has six tassels and a silver clasp top decorated with a thistle motif.
The Highland sporran was a descendant of the medieval leather purse carried on a belt at the waist. By the 18th century it had developed a distinctive decorative clasp top of brass or silver.
