This elaborately carved oak pulpit is from Parton Church in Kirkcudbrightshire. It is dated 1598.
The pulpit has a panelled backboard and sounding board or canopy and is conservative in decorative style. It bears the initials 'I.G.', of the family of Gwendonwyn of Parton, patrons of the parish church whose arms are included in the carved decoration.
