Strike-a-light & flint
This C-shaped strike-a-light - also known as a fleerish - and the flint are from Breckans at Finstown in Orkney. The strike-a-light dates from the 18th or early 19th century.
A small wrought bar, with the ends bent back and finished decoratively, the strike-a-light is designed to be held in one hand. It was struck against the flint to produce a spark.
