Add to albumThis hand-coloured fashion plate is from La Gazette Rose Illustrée, a fashion magazine published in Paris. The plate is dated 1882 and illustrates two, 'Costumes de Villes d'Eeaux' - outfits suitable for a visit to a spa town.
The plate is signed 'Jules David', 'Bonnard' and 'Vve. Gauthier Coloriste'.
Jules David (1808-1892) drew fashion plates for the French publication - Le Moniteur de la Mode - from 1843 until 1892. The plates were subsequently issued in many other European magazines. In 1894, La Gazette Rose amalgamated with Le Moniteur de la Mode.
