This small yellow glass bead was found in the broch at Dun Troddan at Glenelg in Inverness-shire. Glass beads were valuable objects, probably worn on necklaces, perhaps with beads of other materials. The bead dates from sometime between 100 BC and 50 AD.

Yellow glass bead from Dun Troddan, Glenelg, Inverness-shire, 100 BC - 50 AD

The yellow beads form a distinct group of Iron Age beads, probably manufactured at the Culbin Sands, Moray area in the last century BC to around 50 AD. This bead may have reached Dun Troddan from Moray as an aristocratic gift.
