CandleholderThis candleholder from Wigtownshire may date from the 15th century. It is made of latten - thin sheets of a metal or alloy. The candleholder's socket has piercings back and front and a fish-tail shaped projection at either side near the top. The round base is attached to tripod feet and is decorated with an engraved concentric circle. It is thought the candle was introduced to Britain by the Romans.
