RecordFashion plate, from La Mode Illustreépublished in Paris
Fashion plate, from La Mode IllustreéThis hand-coloured fashion plate is from La Mode Illustreé, a fashion magazine published in Paris. Dating from 1872, the plates illustrates two day dresses for women and one for a young girl. It is signed, 'Héloïse Leloir' and 'Bonnard'. The woman on the left wears a ribboned cap and carries a parasol. Sometimes parasols were made with a joint in the middle, so that the holder could be shielded from the sun at any angle. Small versions were also attached to carriages for use when driving. Record detailsTo search on related items, click any linked text below.
