made in Po Valley, North Eastern Italy
This earthenware flask was made in Po Valley in North Eastern Italy between 1530 and 1550.
The flask is moulded in the form of a clam shell with scrolling foliage decoration and lion mask heads on each handle. The earthenware is covered with white slip incised and cutaway details in coloured lead glaze.
