This hand-coloured fashion plate is from La Mode Illustreé, a fashion magazine published in Paris. The plate illustrates fancy dress for two women and a young girl. Dated 1874, the plate is signed, 'D' and 'Anaïs Toudouze'.
The costume titles are, 'Cluster of cherries' (for the young girl), 'Marchioness' (for the woman in the centre) and 'Country-woman' (for the woman on the right).
Adèle Anaïs Toudouze (1822-99), was the second daughter of Alexandre-Marie Colin, a painter and lithographer. She married Auguste Toudouze in 1845 and most of her plates are signed with her married name.
