This glazed earthenware bowl was made by the Britannia Pottery Company Ltd in Glasgow. It dates from the 1920s or 1930s. It is transfer-printed with a pattern showing flowers and a shepherd tending his flock.
The base is stamped with the maker's details and the pattern name, 'RURAL ENGLAND'.
The Britannia Pottery Company Ltd bought over the business of Arnold J Fleming's Brittannia Pottery in 1920.
