Hanging, by Linda Green
Add to album

This hanging composed of three separate pieces of woven paper and linen was made by the Scottish artist Linda Green in 1983. It was inspired by Indian shrines and gods. The hanging formed part of the Scottish Crafts Collection, which was transferred to the National Museums of Scotland when the Scottish Craft Council was wound up.

The hanging has three separate woven pieces hung beside one another. Each 'pillar' has paper flaps from which warps hang. Two of the pillars are white and the third is predominately pink.

Linda Green was born in 1955 in Glasgow and studied in London and Edinburgh. She now lives in Edinburgh, working with fibre art, paperworks and textiles. She has exhibited throughout Scotland and abroad, and has held visiting teaching posts in Japan and the U.S.
