Snuffers
Add to album

Snuffers are used to trim or cut off the charred end of a candle wick. These iron snuffers are from West Calder in West Lothian. They date from the late 18th century.

The scissors-type snuffers have an upright semicircular box into which the end of the wick is transferred when it is cut off. The snuffers have a pointed projection at the end.
