Medal (reverse), commemorating Battle of DunbarThis is the reverse of a silver medal commemorating the victory of Oliver Cromwell's forces over a Scottish army at the battle of Dunbar in September 1650. Such medals were awarded to soldiers in Cromwell's army who distinguished themselves in the battle. The reverse of the medal shows Parliament assembled in one house and the Speaker presiding over the sitting. By defeating Scottish forces at Dunbar, Cromwell's New Model Army gained control of most of lowland Scotland. Record detailsTo search on related items, click any linked text below.
