Coin (reverse), 20 pence piece, from reign of Charles I
Add to album

This is the reverse of a silver 20 pence piece minted at Edinburgh between 1638 and 1642, during the reign of Charles I.

The reverse has a crowned thistle. The Latin inscription translates as: 'Justice strengthens the throne'. There is a small sideways 'F' after the inscription.

The 'F' on the coin is the initial of Sir John Falconer, Master of the Mint at this time.
