Model of a reaping machine

This model of a reaping machine is actually the original model by Rev Patrick Bell, constructed in 1827.

Bell was voted the Highland Society's prize of £50 for this machine which cut the grain with a series of blades modelled on garden shears. He refused to patent his design which he insisted must benefit mankind.
