Medal (Obverse), commemorating the death of James WattThis is the obverse of a silver medal commemorating the death of James Watt in 1819. The obverse is inscribed with a figure of Watt seated on a chair with the text underneath, 'Born 19 January 1736/ Died 25 August 1819'. James Watt (1736-1819) was buried at Handsworth Church in Warwickshire. He is commemorated by a statue in Westminster Abbey as the inventor who was responsible for making the Industrial Revolution possible.
