MeasureThis pewter measure for a Scots pint dates from the mid 18th century. The measure has a scroll handle and thumb-piece. On the interior are the initials of a former owner 'W F M R'. The shape of the measure is known as a 'Tappit Hen'. Pewter was commonly used for measures and drinking vessels as it was both fairly cheap and strong enough to stand up to to the rigours of tavern life.
