This necklace, set with pebbles, dates from the late 17th century. The necklace form part of a collection of jewellery which includes earrings and buckles. It is amongst the earliest examples of pebble-set jewellery in Scotland.
The polished pebbles are mounted in pinchbeck - an alloy of copper and zinc which was used as imitation gold.
