This silver thistle-shaped cup, known as the Huntly Race Cup, was made by William Scott in Banff around 1695.

The cup has a flaring rim and a central applied moulding. It has a double scroll strap handle and an applied collet foot.

The cup is an early surviving example from a group of prizes connected with the horse races promoted by the Dukes of Gordon of Huntly.
