Made at Alloa, Clackmannanshire
This teapot was made in the late 19th century at W. & J.A. Bailey's pottery at Alloa in Clackmannanshire. It was engraved by Stephen Lerche.
This brown glazed redware teapot is engraved with ferns and foliage and the initials of the engraver, Stephen Lerche.
Stephen Lerche was the son of Emanuel Lerche, a Bohemian glass engraver who settled in Edinburgh in 1853. Both worked as engravers for Bailey's Pottery. They usually engraved glass but occasionally produced unusual pieces like this teapot.
