Strap fittingThis bronze strap fitting for a horse harness was found at the important native hillfort site of Traprain Law in East Lothian. It was used sometime between 0 and 200 AD. The six-lobed fitting is perforated in the centre and has a rectangular loop at the back. The design may be an adaptation of a Roman type of glass bead. A range of harness equipment has been found at Traprain Law. The leather rarely survives, but the metal fittings and ornaments are often preserved.
