The design for this silver brooch, set with agates and a central citrine, was registered in 1877.

The square brooch has four rounded corners set with crescent-shaped agates. The central citrine sits in a claw setting.

Scotland has rich sources of agates, jaspers, bloodstones, cairngorms and granites all popular in 19th-century jewellery. Queen Victoria's love of the Highlands and interest in Scottish traditions helped foster the popularity of 'Scotch pebble' jewellery.
