Condiment set, including model of Blackpool Tower

This souvenir polystyrene condiment set includes a small aluminium-coated model of Blackpool Tower. It was made in Britain by the firm Casdon and dates from the 1960s.

The stand has a shaped base of polystyrene imitating mother-of-pearl, with a swelling centre and two deep circular flat-bottomed recesses for the salt and pepper pots.

Originally a small hamlet, Blackpool grew into a fashionable sea-bathing centre from the late 18th century onwards. The tower was completed in 1895. It stands at a height of 158 metres and is modelled on the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
