Spout, from ewerThis spout from an ewer was found at Bothwell Castle in Lanarkshire. The ewer was made in North Europe in the 15th century. The spout resembles the head and neck of a dragon-like animal. Situated on the Clyde, Bothwell Castle was probably built in the second half of the 13th century and was an important fortress during the Wars of Independence. It has been called 'probably the greatest ruin of its kind in Scotland'. Record detailsTo search on related items, click any linked text below.
