SpearheadThis bronze spearhead was found at Broughton in Peeblesshire. It dates from between 1500 and 1150 BC. The socket forms a strong midrib which extends nearly to the point. There are two loops on the socket, one of which is broken. Spearheads of this shape are fairly common in Scotland, though moulds are rare. Spears were used both for fighting and for hunting.
