This earthenware flower vase was made at the Possil Pottery in Glasgow between around 1896 and 1911.

Founded originally as the Saracen Pottery in the Possilpark area of Glasgow in 1875, this firm began manufacturing a wide range of domestic wares, changing its name to the Possil Pottery Company in 1895. In 1894 the Nautilus Porcelain Company was formed, producing a range of soft paste porcelain wares influenced by Worcester and Limoges.

Two years later, the Nautilus Company bought the now bankrupt Possil Pottery Co. They continued producing both earthenware and porcelain until the company was forced to close in 1911. In 1918 the works were acquired by Tennants the brewers and produced stoneware bottles and jars until 1948.
