Strap endThis bronze strap end was found at Stevenston Sands in Ayrshire. It was used sometime between 800 and 900. The strap end has two rivet holes in the broad end which would have attached to a leather strap. It is ornamented with a geometric pattern. Metal strap ends were attached to leather straps, both for horse harness and human belt fittings, to protect the ends of leather or textile straps.
