Coin (obverse), half pistole or six pound piece, from reign of William IIThis is the obverse of a gold half pistole minted in Edinburgh in 1701, during the reign of William II. The coin was worth six pounds Scots. The obverse bears a portrait of the king with a sun below. The Latin inscription translates as: 'William, by the Grace of God'.
