Add to albumThese two stoneware lamp bases were made at Buchan's Pottery in Portobello in Midlothian. They date from between around 1940 and 1960.
One of two lamp bases of blue stoneware by A.W. Buchan of Buchan's Pottery, Portobello, about 1940 - 1960
Scotland's once great pottery industry suffered greatly with the loss of export markets caused by World War I and the Depression of the 1920s. Buchans, however, still exists and has been based in Crieff since 1972.
