Vase

This clear glass vase was designed in 1953 by Edward Hald and made in 1960 by Aktiebolaget Orrefors Glasbruk of Sweden.

The vase has wheel-engraved decoration depicting birds on telegraph wires. It is marked 'Orrefors Hald 3532 NA'.

Since the end of World War II, the national design organisations of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark have collaborated with joint exhibitions and prizes to promote modern functional design. This resulted in a characteristic 'Scandinavian Style' which was a major influence on world taste.
