Add to album

This scarf pin of gold and gilt metal is said to be associated with J Keir Hardie.

The oval gilt metal mount, surrounding a yellow stone, has cast floral motifs around it and is attached to the gold pin by a Y-shaped joint at the top. The pin has a turned spiral groove in the centre.

James Keir Hardie (1856-1915) was a key founder of the labour movement. He was elected as the Independent Labour Member of Parliament for South West Ham in 1892 and later became chairman of the Independent Labour Party.
