Razor
Add to album

This bronze razor was found in a cairn in Galloway sometime before 1726. It dates from between 1700 and 1500 BC.

The blade of the razor is nicked and chipped. The hole at one end may have been used to attach the blade with a peg or rivet to an organic handle which has not survived.

Although these objects are generally termed razors, there is some debate as to their function. They may have been used as prestige shaving gear, or perhaps as lightweight knives.
